the seventh note
On the seventh day, the secretary looked upon the work of their hands and thought to themself, "I guess that'll do."
It is a good day to rest, I think.
There are many people who were overlooked by the narrator of this book, who I have done my best to give a voice. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get the narrator to realize that the protagonist of this story wasn't just another sad, 30-year-old man.
Arrett is a vast and diverse world, full of stories that adults tend to ignore. They'd much rather learn to fly than feed a hungry ghost. But Arrett is not selfish, even though many of the High Council would like you to think that. The land always has more to give.
In this world, magicks are most powerful when they're tied to prayers. Saints, for better and for worse, are often synonymous with witches. And the ones in charge of the story are never the ones telling it. I suspect your world isn't so different.
So I invite you to partake in this experiment with me. I hope whoever you are, you search for the unheard voices. Look past heroes and villains and see everyone you know as the names they give you. I know I wasn't perfect, but I tried to be true.
And I deeply hope I have done the children of St. George's justice.
